About

Brooke Schmidt graduated from Peachtree City’s McIntosh High School in 1995 and Charlotte, North Carolina’s Queens University in 1999 with a double major in English and communications. Brooke spent the next 10 years as a professional editor and writer, working mostly on trade publications in the healthcare and analytics worlds as well as on prominent parenting and bridal publications.

In 2006, when her first child was born, Brooke and her husband Brian moved to Canton to raise their family. In an effort to spend more time with her children, Brooke began freelancing as a writer/editor. Her son is now a rising 8th grader at Teasley Middle School and her daughter is a rising 5th grader at Knox Elementary. They live with their rescue dog Rooster in the city of Canton.

Currently holding the part-time position of activities director for one of the largest communities in Canton, Brooke has been volunteering on the same community’s homeowners’ association board as its president for almost four years, overseeing large construction projects as well as fighting for – and receiving – two significant settlements on behalf of residents, used to improve the community.

As a working mother, Brooke has also enjoyed finding time over the years to volunteer at her children’s schools, MUST Ministries, and dog rescue organizations. In the 2019-20 school year, Brooke will serve as the PTA Advocacy Chair at Knox STEM Academy.

Excited about the momentum in Canton, Brooke believes she brings the energy and work ethic necessary to help oversee careful and fulfilling growth in this amazing city. Canton is going to grow and change and blossom – as it always has. The right team in place – a team of believers and listeners, of folks not afraid to do the hard work – will ensure growth happens in the right ways, at the right pace. With her strong and fierce dedication to this great city and all those who choose to call it home, Brooke is the right choice to continue to push Canton forward.
